Picking up new skills

Our three-year graduate programmes will give you every business skill you can think of focusing on many areas like your ability to present and influence stakeholders through effective communication. But we believe that you’ll get the majority of your learning and experience working across a variety of roles, gaining ‘big-picture’ commercial expertise and a broader understanding of how our business works.

What our graduate academy could look like for you

During your first year on the graduate programme, you’ll focus on general business acumen and self-development.

During your second year, you’ll focus on presentation, people influencing and project management skills. At the beginning of the year you’ll work on a community project, while halfway through you’ll begin collaborating on a cross-functional project with other graduates.

During your third year, you’ll complete the cross-functional project – which could potentially go live – and take courses on career management and leadership training.

Salary

It all starts with the salary. We offer graduates a £27,000 – £29,500 (dependant on location) starting salary plus a £2,000 joining bonus. If you’re an intern your salary will be £17,000 and if you’re a school-leaver you’ll get £15,000.

Salaries for Apprentices start at £12,000 in year one. Provided personal performance is where we would expect, this would rise to £14,000 in year two. Apprentice Engineers then step up to around £16,000 in year three and around £18,000 in their fourth year.

Holidays

We give you a sublime holiday entitlement of 27 days per year. And that doesn’t count bank holidays. If you like, you can also buy up to three extra days annually.

Flexibility

Some benefits, such as personal accident cover, are given to everyone who joins us. Others are part of our flexible benefits package, which allows you to choose the benefits you like. These include travel, dental and car breakdown insurance.

Wellness

You’ll have access to two state-of-the-art gyms (if based at Bournville or Uxbridge) and numerous wellness initiatives throughout the year.

Career Progression

If you’re a graduate or school-leaver, you’ll be on a full-time contract from day one. Once you’ve completed the programme, you’ll then be able to choose a permanent role. We’ve been offering apprenticeships in the UK and Ireland for many years now. So we know how to bring out your best, and help you thrive within a fast-paced, global business.

We offer apprenticeships in Manufacturing Engineering and RD&Q across several of our sites. This includes our biggest UK Manufacturing site and global chocolate centre of excellence at, The Home of Cadbury, in Bournville. Other sites include of candy and biscuit plant in Sheffield, and one of our sites in Ireland.

Whichever apprenticeship you take up, you’ll become part of a supportive team who’ll share their knowledge and expertise with you and help you develop on the job. Add formal college course work to the mix and, before you know it, you’ll be a highly-skilled professional with a bright future ahead of you.

Your Special Ingredients

You’ll need a solid academic record along with five GCSEs grades A*-C (including Maths and English – Science also required for the RD&Q programme). Couple this with excellent people skills and the ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment, and the delicious world of Mondelēz International could be yours to enjoy.

We’re looking for people who are hungry to learn and love nothing more than taking on a challenge. We’ll also need you to have great attention to detail, an insatiable curiosity about the wider world and a real passion for building a successful future.

Manufacturing Apprenticeship - Bournville

Learn what it takes to create confectionery perfection by immersing yourself for up to two and a half years in the practical and theoretical elements of manufacturing operations. This means learning about product process, plant operations, health & safety, and routine maintenance activities.

Along with leading a project with other apprentices, you’ll have the chance to polish your presentation skills and represent the company on a national stage. You’ll also get the chance to take eight, 12-week placements in one of our UK factories and be part of new product launches, energy reduction schemes, community projects and much, much more.

The two year Intermediate Manufacturing Apprenticeship is centred around learning Basic Engineering and Business Improvement skills, after which you will have completed a tough and demanding program that will prepare you for working within a dynamic and challenging environment. Successful candidates have the potential to become Operators within an exciting manufacturing environment providing the opportunity for them to exercise the skills they have learnt during their learning journey. Beyond the Intermediate Apprenticeship, candidate showing particular promise may have the potential to continue their development within a support function of the business developing their career further where such opportunities are available.

Engineering Apprenticeship - Bournville

Engineering is where our brilliant ideas become a delicious reality. Our engineers develop the highly technical processes behind every product we make, whether it’s an imaginative chocolate bar like Marvellous Creations, an irresistible snack like Dairylea Dunkers or some wonderful new treat we haven’t even thought of yet.

Join our Engineering apprenticeship programme and experience both the operational and technical sides of what we do. Over the course of four years you’ll learn about a wide range of areas, such as manufacturing, factory quality, hygiene and safety requirements, and the maintenance of a number of production processes. After learning the engineering basics at a recognised college during your first year, you’ll be based in one of our UK factories, earning while you learn. You’ll gain knowledge of industrial-scale computerised control systems, world-class Continuous Improvement techniques, condition-based monitoring, vibration analysis and preventative maintenance.

Having completed over 4 years the academic and vocational training at level 2 and level 3 within a range of engineering disciplines, you will have developed the skills and abilities necessary to be complete the Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship. During your development you will be coached and supported in an environment that utilises the most modern of manufacturing techniques, creating a truly all-encompassing learning journey that will prepare you for working within a modern flexible manufacturing environment. Candidates that demonstrate the capability to grow beyond the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework can apply to be considered for progression onto a Foundation Degree in Engineering during years 3 and 4 to further develop their skills and knowledge and future employability.

There’s no limit to your potential at Mondelēz International. Previous apprentices, for example, have gone on to become Engineering Technicians, maintaining fully automated production processes for brands such as Trebor.

Chocolate Research, Development & Quality (RD&Q) Apprenticeship - Bournville

Our Chocolate RD&Q apprenticeship will give you all the skills and experience you need for a bright future in the food industry. It’s a work-based programme lasting two years, and is meant for people with a genuine passion for chocolate. If that’s you, get in touch!

Research Development & Quality is the magical ingredient that brings all our brands, big and small, to life. From developing new products to measuring their nutritional value to extending shelf life and providing sensory testing, RD&Q is where we turn great ideas into brilliant brands.

As part of our Chocolate RD&Q apprenticeship, you’ll gain the technical skills to become a fully-trained chocolatier and confectioner. You’ll learn everything from artisan methods to mass production processes, as well as the importance of health and safety in the workplace, quality assurance and food safety. What’s more, you’ll get to put your skills into practice by working on real projects with scientists, engineers and packaging specialists. You’ll learn about the wider business too, how it works and the importance of RD&Q in driving us forward.

At the end of the two-year programme you’ll come away with a level 3 FDQ diploma for Proficiency in Food Industry Skills and, if all goes well, an opportunity for a future career with us.

Ready for a tantalising taste of the commercial world? Then sink your teeth into a Mondelēz International internship.

Most of our placements are 12 months long, though we do offer some flexibility in Research Development & Quality (RD&Q). Either way, we’ll make you an integral part of our team, giving you a real job – with real responsibilities – from day one.

We want to make sure you get the most from your time with us. That’s why once you join we’ll work out ambitious goals for you. Then through the support of a buddy and regular reviews with your manager, we’ll help you achieve them.

It’ll be quite a challenge. After all, we’re a global company working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. But if all goes well, you could be offered a graduate role.

Immersing yourself in a world of Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, you’ll work in a range of environments, with a range of responsibilities. Along with experiencing both the operational and technical sides of what we do, you’ll be given the freedom to innovate, the scope to make key decisions and the opportunity to take on the many small and exciting challenges that make up any large-scale production.

Sales Internship

Our Sales team is all about our customers, the stores and supermarkets that buy our products and enable consumers to enjoy them. The stronger our customer relationships are, the more likely that our products will be displayed in the best places – and attract maximum attention.

Join us in Sales and you’ll get a flavour of our ingenious sales and merchandising strategies. Working in a Field Sales placement, you’ll develop tight relationships with independent retailers and promote new product lines while selling existing ones. All to ensure optimum sales and exposure.

During your induction you’ll receive comprehensive training on selling techniques and negotiation skills. Thereafter, you’ll enjoy on-going support from a Field Sales mentor.

Research, Development & Quality Internship

Research, Development & Quality (RD&Q) is the magical ingredient that brings all our brands, big and small, to life.

Our Chemistry Department, for instance, makes chemical and physical measurements to characterise composition, functionality and nutritional value, while our Packaging team uses their expertise for everything from extending the shelf life of our products to ensuring they’re wrapped in an environmentally-friendly way.

Our Consumer and Sensory Science people provide sensory testing and consumer research, our Nutritional Group offers strategic leadership in nutritional science and our Science and Regulatory Affairs Department handles legislation and regulatory compliance. We also have a Quality team that develops and carries out proactive food safety initiatives.

We also have our Product Development team who work on the final product creative design, and our Process Development experts who work on the way we make our products.

Information Systems Internship

Information Systems (IS) connects every aspect of our organisation, big and small. It brings us together and makes us more efficient. It changes how we work and opens up new worlds of mouth-watering possibilities.

Join IS and you’ll be part of a business-focused team providing crucial support for our Corporate, Supply Chain & Logistics, Sales and Marketing teams in the UK and Ireland. You’ll also develop specific local applications in Visual Basic and SQL and ensure we make best use of our regional applications. Moreover, you’ll resolve IS issues, gather technical requirements for people across the business and develop strong relationships with the end-user community, regional IS teams and third party suppliers.

Supply Chain & Logistics Graduate Programme

Supply Chain & Logistics is one of the most expansive areas of our business. Not only do they help manage customer accounts, but they’re responsible for storing products, taking orders, managing demand, arranging transport, collecting payments and, ultimately, ensuring our products reach store shelves all over the UK and Ireland – in full and on time!

Join our graduate programme and you’ll get to do around four placements in different areas of Supply Chain & Logistics, including Production Planning, Procurement, Logistics Operations and Customer Finance. Once you’ve learned the ropes, we’ll encourage you to contribute and prove yourself on live projects.

Working as part of a small interdisciplinary team, you’ll also have the opportunity to plan and implement a new product. Who knows? If we like it enough, we could even green light it for production.

Sales & Marketing Graduate Programme

Our Sales team is all about our customers, the stores and supermarkets that buy our products and enable consumers to enjoy them. The stronger our customer relationships are, the more likely that our products will be displayed in the best places – and attract maximum attention.

Working across a variety of roles, you’ll learn big-picture commercial skills from some of the best people in the business. You’ll also get a flavour of our cutting-edge marketing campaigns and ingenious sales strategies. Moreover, you’ll help plan, price, develop and deliver our iconic brands, including Cadbury, Philadelphia and Oreo.

From building tight relationships with retailers to understanding what people want to eat, you’ll always be looking for new ways to engage and delight both customers and consumers.

HR Graduate Programme

As a company that employs 100,000 people worldwide, we need to make our size work for us. By ensuring every person counts and can use their unique talents to help us on our journey, our industry-leading HR team brings out our best.

Join us in HR and you’ll help drive change throughout the organisation. Moving around different areas of the business, you’ll support the design and delivery of our people systems and processes, while working with senior leaders to support our people agenda.

You’ll have the chance to work on projects of all sizes, with some cross-functional and international assignments. You’ll also develop generalist skills such as leadership and workforce planning, and gain specialist skills in areas such as organisational effectiveness and compensation and benefits.

What’s more, we’ll support you – through time off and funding – to gain a CIPD qualification in Occupational Psychology, and to take advantage of our internal management development courses.

Research, Development & Quality

As a business we feel building a career in RD&Q should be focussed on developing deep technical understanding and knowledge of a particular topic or subject and as such we don’t offer a rotational graduate programme for this function in our business. We do however, offer a wide range of exciting direct-entry opportunities for graduates interested in the world of RD&Q focussed in two broad areas in Product Development and Process Development.

As with the Engineering graduate scheme, the business supports its chemical engineers in gaining Chartership through its IChemE ACTS (Accredited Company Training Scheme), helping to promote the role of chemical engineers within the business and wider industry.
